Nomad’s Five-Year Service Contract Extension with VIA Rail
Nomad Digital has signed a five-year service management extension for the delivery of its WiFi and media and entertainment platform with Canada’s national rail operator, VIA Rail.
The new partnership builds on Nomad’s previous five-year contract with VIA Rail, extending the partnership through until 2021. It covers VIA Rail’s full passenger rail fleet and provides service to over 1.5 million passengers annually who use the service to the east coast’s major destinations such as Toronto, Ottawa, Québec and Montreal.
The partnership covers Nomad’s connectivity, and on-board WiFi and entertainment platform, which delivers a host of passenger information, media and infotainment, including up-to-date movies, news and sport. This is loaded onto Nomad’s open connectivity platform and accessed via a customer portal, meaning passengers can stream high-quality media content on multiple fixed and hand-held devices.
The solution ensures that VIA Rail is able to provide their customers with an excellent on-board passenger experience, and allows them to successfully compete with aviation operators in the Canadian transport market.
The partnership includes the services of several in-territory technicians providing dedicated on-the-ground engineering maintenance expertise, while Nomad’s other key customer service centers in the US and the UK provide additional ancillary support. This long-term customer support infrastructure presents VIA Rail with a framework to easily deal with future upgrades and installations across their national fleet.
Damian Bryant, Nomad Digital CEO & president Americas Region, said “We are delighted to continue our very strong relationship with VIA Rail. It now means that our system will run on their national fleet for over 10 years – a resounding endorsement of VIA Rail’s faith in Nomad and our solutions.”
