Dewberry has been selected by Walton County, Florida, to perform an autonomous vehicle transportation network feasibility study along county road (CR) 30A. If proven to be plausible, the autonomous vehicle network will reduce traffic congestion along CR 30A, enhance workforce mobility within the county, and provide interconnectivity with other regional transportation nodes.
If the project is approved, the firm will develop a long-range timeline encompassing various phases of the project. The first phase will be a preliminary or conceptual design, which Dewberry will see through to the completion of construction.
“The possibility of an autonomous vehicle transportation network is very exciting,” said Don Hammack, PE, associate vice president. “This feasibility study will open up many growth opportunities for the transportation industry in Florida.”
