Jyoti Mahurkar-Thombre named Chief Technology Officer of Transit Wireless
Transit Wireless, a BAI Communications infrastructure company, hired Jyoti Mahurkar-Thombre as chief technology officer. In her senior leadership role, she will drive technology strategy to facilitate the company’s growing 5G infrastructure buildouts. Mahurkar-Thombre is based in New York City and will report directly to Melinda White, chief executive officer of Transit Wireless.
“Jyoti’s global expertise and unparalleled technical background will provide immediate value to Transit Wireless,” said White. “She has deep experience including a strong track-record of development and execution of forward-thinking technologies for customers across the globe.”
In her role, Mahurkar-Thombre will lead technology strategy at Transit Wireless, including engineering, network operations, R&D, and product development.

Mahurkar-Thombre comes to Transit Wireless with more than 30 years of global experience. She was previously CTO of Landis+Gyr, a recognized leader in smart metering technologies. Prior to that, she served in roles of increasing responsibility at Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia, including as president of APAC Global Customer Delivery and vice president of Wireless R&D.
Mahurkar-Thombre earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Illinois and holds master’s degrees in computer science and engineering management from Northwestern University.
