TARTA announces Jim Fight as new human resources director

Fight previously led human resources efforts at transit systems in Baton Rouge and Kansas City.

Jim Fight has been selected to be the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority’s (TARTA) new human resources director.

Fight will assume the role Aug. 17 and will lead TARTA’s human capital components including hiring and workforce training; employee and labor relations; employee engagement; wellness initiatives; employee recognition directives; performance management; and organizational development.

Fight has an accomplished background in human resources in the transit and transportation industry having served most recently as the director of human resources at the Capital Area Transit System in Baton Rouge, La. Fight also held executive level positions in human resources at the Kansas City Area Transit Authority (KCATA) and Compass Transportation/Transit in San Francisco. Through his leadership in these roles, Fight introduced several innovative initiatives, including hosting KCATA’s first annual Diversity and Inclusion Conference and creating an award-winning employee wellness program.

Fight’s innovative practices in human resources have regularly been featured by the American Public Transit Association (APTA) and in transit industry publications.

Fight holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Mary in Overland Park, Kans., and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Columbia College in Columbia, Mo.
