Metro Announces 3 New Board Members
The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (Metro) announced the appointment of three new members to its board of directors: Don Elder, Sanjay Ramabhadran and Barron Wallace.
Ramabhadran has 20 years of progressive experience in infrastructure, environmental management and community engagement. He is vice president of CP&Y, a Texas based infrastructure and environmental consulting company. Ramabhadran has served on a number of nonprofit boards including Leadership Houston, Texas Lyceum and Rice University’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research. A graduate of BITS-Pilani, India, he earned his master's degree in environmental engineering from Texas A&M University. Ramabhadran replaces Metro Vice Chairman Allen Watson.
Wallace is a partner with Bracewell & Giuliani and co-chairs its public finance section. He has experience with municipal finance, urban infrastructure and redevelopment, and structuring public/private joint ventures. His civic affiliations include Center for Houston’s Future, American Leadership Forum, and the Discovery Green-Downtown Park Corporation. Barron is a graduate University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Juris-Doctor at University of Michigan Ann Arbor School of Law. Wallace replaces Metro Board member Judge Dwight Jefferson.
Ramabhadran and Wallace were sworn in May 28.
Elder, former mayor of Katy, was sworn in April 23. He is owner of Elder Consulting where he works with school and governmental entities. Elder’s civic background includes service on the Talent Committee of the Economic Development Board and the Development Board for Houston Community College. He graduated from Katy High School and attended Sam Houston State University where he received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. Elder replaced former Metro Board member Burt Ballanfant.
