RATP Dev USA Donates $5,000 to Support the TEF's Mission to Provide Low-income Individuals with Access to Mass Transit Systems
RATP Dev USA has announced it has donated $5,000 to the Transit Empowerment Fund (TEF) in Austin, Texas on behalf of Capital Metro. The donation will enable the TEF to provide 10,000 Day Passes and 1,110 7-Day Passes to nonprofit organizations whose clients who are elderly, disabled or students.
The Transit Empowerment Fund was established in 2011 through a partnership between Capital Metro and One Voice Central Texas, a coalition of more than 100 health and human service nonprofit organizations. It focuses on lowering barriers to self-sufficiency by increasing access to transportation for education, employment, healthcare and social services. TEF distributes bus passes to organizations that serve low-income individuals and supports projects that employ creative solutions to expand transit services in underserved neighborhoods in the Capital Metro service area.
“The Transit Empowerment Fund is deeply committed to strengthening our community by supporting traditional and innovative mobility options,” said Janet Allen, chair of the Transit Empowerment Fund Board. “We are thrilled that RATP Dev has chosen to partner with us as we work to find innovative transportation solutions.”
The donation is funded by RATP Dev’s “We Move People” community outreach program. The program’s objectives are to support and partner with individual agencies to impact the communities that RATP Dev serves nationwide by connecting its employees with charitable organizations and transit related non-profit organizations and opportunities.
