Lynx Rolls Out See Something, Say Something Safety Mobile Application
The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority has released a mobile application allowing customers to communicate transit threats and safety and security concerns in real-time.
Lynx has contracted with ELERTS Corporation to develop the Lynx See & Say app where customers can initiate a real-time two-way communication through the mobile application to 911 (using their phone) or communicating with Lynx Security by sending a report through the app or a text (407-449-7550). A five-second video or photos can be attached to a report providing a better understanding of the situation. Customers will be able to submit the report with their location, contact information or choose to submit anonymously. Once submitted Lynx can provide updates back to the customer on the status of their report. Incoming reports will be monitored 24 hours a day.
Another feature will allow Lynx to send out advisories and “be on the lookout” alerts. Users are still encouraged to use the “Call 911” button to report immediate emergency concerns.
Report categories have been limited to safety and security concerns.
The list includes but, is not limited to:
- Assault or Fighting
- Comments
- Damage to LYNX Bus Shelters or Bus Stops
- Disruptive Behavior
- Graffiti or Vandalism
- Other
- Suspicious Activity
- Theft
- Unattended Bag or Package
- Unsafe Operation of a LYNX Vehicle
- Unsafe Waiting Area
Customers will need to download the LYNX See & Say app from Google Play or the App Store and create an account.
This customer amenity is the third app the agency has debuted in 2017. A mobile fare payment system is the fourth app under development and will be released in the coming months.
