Service to resume on Campbell River and Comox Valley Regional transit systems following 48-day strike

Feb. 7, 2024
Service for handyDART will resume Feb. 7 while Conventional transit service in will resume on Feb. 12.

Service for BC Transit’s Campbell River and Comox Valley Regional transit systems will be resuming following a 48-day strike. Service for handyDART will resume Feb. 7 while conventional transit service in will resume on Feb. 12.

The bus strike started in mid-December and was focused on wage disparities for drivers, mechanics and cleaners. PWTransit, who is contracted by BC Transit to run both transit systems, reached an agreement with the union representing both transit systems, Unifor local 114, in late January.

Before service resumes, all buses must undergo a thorough inspection, cleaning and on road testing.
