Service Improvements Approved by TheRide Board

On Aug. 23, the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (TheRide) will begin implementing additional improvements as part of its Five-Year Transportation Improvement Program in the urban core of Washtenaw County.  Between Feb. 23 and March 27, TheRide held a series of public input sessions in the greater Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti areas to gain feedback on the proposed improvements.

Saturday service will be extended to end between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the following routes:

1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 20, 22

 
Sunday service will be extended to end between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the following routes: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 15, 16, 17

Route 1: Pontiac – Dhu Varren

Sunday trips will be extended to serve the entire length of the route to the U-M North Campus / Pierpont Commons.
 
Route 2C: Plymouth – Glazier

Midday service will be increased to every 30 minutes and an additional evening trip will be added. 

Route 3: Huron River

To improve on-time performance and increased reliability, during morning and afternoon peak hours, trip running times between the Blake Transit Center and the Ypsilanti Transit Center will be increased from 45 to 60 minutes.  Frequency will continue to operate every 30 minutes between buses.

Route 6: Ellsworth

Sunday trips will be extended to serve the entire length of the route to the Ypsilanti Transit Center.

Route 9: Jackson – Dexter

On Sundays, all trips leaving the Blake Transit Center will be changed from :48 minutes past the hour to :18 minutes past the hour, with trips leaving hourly from 8:18 a.m. – 6:18 p.m.  Service will begin 30 minutes earlier with a new morning trip starting at Maple & Dexter at 7:55 a.m and ending 30 minutes later with the last trip leaving the Blake Transit Center at 6:18 p.m.

Route 10: Ypsilanti – Northeast

New hourly Sunday trips will leave the Ypsilanti Transit Center at :15 minutes past the hour from 8:15 a.m. – 6:15 p.m.

Route 11: Ypsilanti – South

New hourly Sunday trips will leave the Ypsilanti Transit Center at :00 minutes past the hour from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Route 14: Geddes – E. Stadium

A new weekday trip will leave the Pioneer High School Park & Ride lot at 2:52 p.m.

Route 20: Ypsilanti: Grove – Ecorse

New hourly Sunday trips will leave the Ypsilanti Transit Center at :30 minutes past the hour from 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Route 33: EMU College of Business Shuttle

Seasonal change: Service will resume on September 8, 2015 to run during the Eastern Michigan University fall and winter semesters.

Route 36: Wolverine Tower Shuttle

Seasonal change: For the University of Michigan fall and winter semesters, service frequency will be increased to operate every 9-12 minutes mornings/afternoons and every 38 minutes evenings.

Route 46: Huron – Textile

Weekday morning and afternoon service will be increased to every 30 minutes.  Service will be extended on one morning and one afternoon trip to Ann Arbor Preparatory High School on Hitchingham Rd.

Route 67: Platt – Michigan Ave.

This new route will connect the Meijer on Carpenter Rd to the Wal-Mart on Michigan Ave near Saline with hourly service from 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

A-Ride

Saturday service will be extended to end at 10:45 p.m.

Sunday service will be extended to end at 7:45 p.m.

NightRide

Saturday service will be adjusted to begin at 11 p.m. after the end of fixed-route bus service.

Sunday service will be adjusted to begin at 8 p.m. after the end of fixed-route bus service.
