RTA Region’s Transit Marketing Campaign Receives Silver Telly Award
The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) is excited to announce that the transit region’s Ride On. marketing campaign is a Silver winner of the 36th Annual Telly Awards in the category for Local TV and Cable commercials in the Public Service sub-category. The region’s transit agencies, the RTA, CTA, Metra and Pace, collaborated on the humorous and innovative Ride On. campaign.
The Ride On. campaign was chosen from nearly 12, 000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries. The RTA in conjunction with the Service Boards launched the multi-year marketing campaign in January to improve public awareness and perception of public transportation, and to attract new transit riders, to the system in the RTA’s six-county region. The Telly Award is the premier award honoring the best film and video productions, groundbreaking online video content, and outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies production companies, television stations, cable operators and corporate video departments in the world.
“This campaign takes an innovative approach to encourage residents to consider riding transit by identifying the common pain points of driving in our region in a humorous way,” said Leanne Redden, RTA executive director. “We are extremely delighted to see that our approach not only resonates with riders but reaches the level of receiving the illustrious Silver Telly Award.”
The Ride On. campaign highlights the benefits and convenience of riding public transit in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties, as well as the “real life pain points” of driving. The ads in the campaign – developed by Chicago-based Downtown Partners Communications, Inc. – have been seen on cable television, online and on digital billboards throughout the region. The campaign will run through summer, 2017.
