RTC Transit Helps Riders Beat Summer Heat with ‘Chill Stations’
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) reminds transit riders to beat extreme heat during the hot summer months by following these simple tips:
- Reach for relief by drinking plenty of water
- Stay covered and cool
- Limit time in the sun to a minimum
- Dress appropriately for the hot temperatures
These tips are especially important for children and senior citizens, who may be more vulnerable to the effects of extreme heat. The RTC is promoting its safety message throughout the summer months at transit centers, bus shelters, inside transit vehicles, on social media and through public service announcements.
Radio station KLUC 98.5 FM will sponsor “chill stations,” or water distribution centers, during July and August. Dates and locations will be announced soon.
RTC’s Summer Heat community outreach supports Southern Nevada Strong’s vision of a sustainable community. As the administrator of Southern Nevada Strong, the RTC is committed to initiatives that will create a connected and safe community. To find out more, visit SouthernNevadaStrong.org.
