MV Transportation Inc. has announced that John Moss from Reno, Nevada was named the national Katherine McClary Operator of the Year award winner. Established to honor the memory of Katherine McClary, who was tragically killed in a bus accident in 2004, MV’s annual award recognizes the safest transit operators at the company. Award recipients are chosen from approximately 15,000 MV operators across North America.
Moss has been a coach operator for the RIDE System of the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County, Nevada since 2006 and a part of the MV family since 2011. During his transit career, he has received fifteen customer commendations and has not had a single complaint in over five years. Moss has a flawless driving record with no preventable accidents.
In addition to his absolute focus on safety, Mr. Moss is further distinguished by his professionalism — regarding his customer service skills, friendly demeanor, and his consistent willingness to help new drivers achieve the same success that helped him earn this award.
A formal presentation was held today at the 4th Street Station in Reno, where MV Transportation CEO Kevin Jones, MV President Tom Egan, and RTC Executive Director Lee Gibson jointly presented Moss with his award. Also attending the event were Moss’ MV Transportation colleagues, friends and family members.
“Mr. Moss embodies the attributes of safety and customer focus which MV was founded on over 40 years ago,” said Kevin Jones. “He is respected by his coworkers, supervisors, and loved by his many passengers.”
“We at the RTC are extremely proud of the recognition of Mr. Moss,” said Lee Gibson. “There are many benefits to taking public transportation and John reminds us of one more: the terrific passenger experience enhanced by the safety and customer-focused operators at RTC RIDE.”
