CA: Solano County Transit Selects National Express
National Express Transit Services Corporation (National Express) has been selected to provide operations and maintenance for Solano County Transit (SolTrans), the public transportation agency for Vallejo and Benicia, California. This contract will include:
• Operation of local and express fixed route bus service, complementary ADA paratransit, and General Public Dial-a-Ride;
• Customer service and pass sales at the Vallejo Transit Center, ferry terminal ticket office and 1850 Broadway ticket office
• Vehicle maintenance
• Facility maintenance at two transit centers, an operations/maintenance facility, a park and ride lot, and approximately 450 bus stops throughout the cities of Vallejo, Benicia.
The 84-bus SolTrans contract represents National Express’ first transit operation in the state of California (joining more than 50 student transportation contracts operated across the state), with a service start date of July 1.
National Express will also be responsible for administering two unique funds geared to benefit employees:
- The Employee Bonus Fund will be used to provide performance-based rewards and incentives for every class of employee.
- The Employee Wellness Fund will be used to develop health and fitness programs for employees operating and maintaining SolTrans vehicles.
