Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT) will contract with National Express Transit Corp. for the Pikes Peak region’s paratransit service beginning Jan. 1.
The Mountain Metro Mobility paratransit service, expected to provide 157,000 rides in 2014, complements the regional fixed-route bus service by providing transportation for persons with disabilities.
National Express emphasizes proactive solutions and operational efficiency for the community’s paratransit operation with a very successful track record across the country. Express was awarded the contract by a committee comprised of five evaluators from the transit division and one member of the local paratransit community.
“We look forward to a great relationship with National. We believe strongly that they will provide the highest level of customer service and cost effectiveness for our community,” said Craig Blewitt, Mountain Metropolitan Transit division manager.
Peter J. Settle, CEO of National Express Transit Corporation, agrees. “We are honored to be selected by the city of Colorado Springs to provide these critical mobility services and to initiate what we hope will be a long-term partnership with the city and the community,” he said.
