A Norwich schoolgirl has pulled off a masterstroke by winning a national landmark drawing competition hosted by National Express.

Nine-year-old Hannah Williams has seen her drawing of the Norwich Plantation Gardens turned into a show-stopping one-off livery on the side of a National Express coach after she was selected as a ‘Colour the Coach’ competition winner.

As part of the competition children aged 5-15 were asked to draw their favorite local landmark and professional artist Ruth Knapp selected Hannah’s entry as the best in the East of England.

In honor of her achievement, Hannah, a student at Avenue Junior School in Norwich, saw her design unveiled in front of her family and artist Ruth Knapp at Norwich Bus Station.

Hannah, who lives in Denbigh Road in Norwich with her family, was overjoyed after hearing she had won and when she saw the design on the coach for the first time she thought it looked amazing.

She said, “I’m really happy that I won the competition which I didn’t expect to win at all. My family were really pleased that I won too which was great. I picked the Plantations because they are so recognizable and pretty.”

Ruth said she was delighted with the amount of talent shown by the young entrants, but she said that Hannah’s picture was her favorite.

She said, “With so many fantastic pictures to choose from judging the competition was really difficult. Hannah’s picture really stood out for me with its bold rainbow colors.”

National Express UK Coach Managing Director Tom Stables said, “We’ve had a brilliant array of entries and Hannah’s design is outstanding. It’s really great to see how children can use their artistic talents recreate the UK’s memorable and iconic landmarks in amazing pieces of artwork.”
