The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) has announced it is an official sponsor of Beachside Buggies, which provides complimentary, on-demand transportation in the beaches communities (including Jacksonville, Neptune, and Atlantic Beaches). Beachside Buggies operates year-round, seven days a week.
Beachside Buggies’ on-demand service operates between Penman Road on the west, Plaza on the north, the ocean on the east and 16th Avenue South in Jacksonville Beach. Beachside Buggies operates zero emission, long-range, 8-seater electric carts and 14-passenger vans.
“JTA is excited to sponsor Beachside Buggies to improve mobility in the Beaches community,” said Nathaniel P. Ford Sr., JTA’s chief executive officer. “Beachside Buggies offers residents and visitors on-demand service every day of the week and expanded geographic coverage.”
Beachside Buggies On-Demand Hours of Operation
From Memorial Day through Labor Day, Beachside Buggies will operate a new fixed route along First Street between Atlantic Blvd. on the north and Beach Blvd. on the south. The Beachside Buggies fixed route will operate on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to midnight.
Customers are able to request on-demand rides via the Beachside Buggies mobile phone app. The Beachside Buggies App (for iOS and Android) is available for a free download in the Google Play or Apple App Store.
As a result of the partnership with Beachside Buggies, JTA will discontinue the seasonal Beaches Trolley. For the past three years, the Beaches Trolley operated a fixed route on weekends along Third Street on the weekends during the summer.
