National Express Launches New Airport Route
National Express is getting the holidays off to a flying start this week by rolling out a new airport route to boost capacity and frequency for flyers.
As the summer break gets underway, National Express launched the new A2 service to London Luton Airport, on Monday, July 24, adding an additional 35 daily departures – 1,600 extra seats a day – going straight to the airport terminal.
In a first for London Luton Airport services, the A2 will pick up passengers from Paddington Station and Finchley Road and Frognal, as well as calling at existing stops in North London on the way to the airport.
And to celebrate the launch of the new route, tickets will initially sold for the special price of just £3 one way - available on a first come first served basis for the first week.
With a coach departing Paddington approximately every 30 minutes, and a journey time of just 1 hour and 10 minutes the A2 offers a fast and frequent service from these new locations.
The new service complements the existing A1 London Luton Airport service that runs 49 direct daily departures from London Victoria to the airport. Both the A1 and the A2 will serve existing stops at Baker Street, St Johns Wood, Finchley Road and Golders Green, meaning an even more frequent service from these stops.
With the arrival of the A2, National Express is nearly doubling its offer from London to London Luton Airport. Londoners can now choose from 84 direct daily services to the airport, linking to flights to Europe and the rest of the world.
National Express Coach Managing Director Chris Hardy said: “Getting to the airport should be hassle free so we’re delighted to be adding more than 1,600 extra seats on this new London Luton Airport service with a fantastic introductory fare offer of £3.”
Rupert Lawrie, commercial director for London Luton Airport said: “The airport is undergoing the largest development in its history and our customers are now starting to see the benefits. We’re making the airport easier to reach than ever as we improve road links and public transport access. The new A2 service from National Express will offer passengers even greater choice when planning a journey to the airport.”
