On Monday, Nov. 13, Capital Metro will launch its MetroExpress Route 980 with 11 morning and 11 evening trips. This new route will take advantage of the Express Lanes on MoPac for a reliable commute to and from downtown. Riders will also be able to take the service from Round Rock to downtown twice in the morning and back from Austin twice in the afternoon.

The Round Rock trips will be part of Capital Metro’s service in Round Rock, which kicked off in late August and includes three other bus routes: Routes 50, 51 and 52.

Beginning in January 2018, Capital Metro will add trips to several other MetroExpress routes, three of which will also travel on the Express Lanes, enabling riders to bypass the congestion of MoPac. MetroExpress service is available for the price of a Commuter fare: $3.50 for a Single Ride and $7 for a Day Pass.

Because of the transit agency’s longstanding partnership with the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, the buses will be able to use the toll lanes free of charge.

“We built Express Lanes on MoPac to move more people through the region and we are thrilled that the addition of the MetroExpress routes will help that to become a reality,” said Jeff Dailey, deputy executive director of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority.
