MV Transportation names Reinaldo Muñoz transit operator of the year
Reinaldo “Rey” Muñoz has been named the national Katherine McClary Operator of the Year by MV Transportation, Inc., (MV).
Established to honor the memory of Katherine McClary, who was tragically killed in a bus accident in 2004, MV’s annual award recognizes the safest transit operators at the company. Award recipients are chosen from approximately 15,000 MV operators across North America.
Muñoz has worked in transit for seven years and has been a member of the MV family since 2017. He is currently an operator for the Coral Gables Trolley fixed-route service and has a perfect driving record with no preventable accidents or passenger complaints during his entire seven-year transit career.
Muñoz was nominated by Frasmo Cardona, the MV general manager who oversees the company’s transit operations in Coral Gables.
“Rey is the epitome of what a public transportation operator should be,” said Cardona. “He takes his profession very seriously and works hard to improve himself each day. His passengers absolutely adore him, and he treats them and his co-workers like family.”
A formal presentation was held on Oct. 14 at the Coral Gables Trolley Facility, where MV Transportation CEO Tom Egan, representatives from the city of Coral Gables and a member of Citizen’s Independent Transit Trust jointly presented Muñoz with his award. Also attending the event were Muñoz’s MV Transportation colleagues and friends.
“Rey embodies the key attributes of safety and customer service, which MV was founded on 45 years ago,” said Egan. “We are extremely proud to recognize him for the example he sets and the exceptional passenger experience he brings to the Coral Gables community.”
