New DRPT Rail Program Administrator Named

Jeremy Latimer has been promoted to the position of Rail Transportation Programs Administrator for the Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT). Prior to his promotion, he managed the Intercity Passenger Operating and Capital Fund Program, the Shortline Railroad Preservation Program, and the Rail Industrial Access Program for DRPT’s rail division.

In his new role, Latimer is responsible for managing all aspects of the agency’s rail funding programs and the development of major rail transportation initiatives funded by the Commonwealth. Over his five years at DRPT, he has managed numerous projects in partnership with freight and passenger railroads, including delivering new Amtrak service extensions to Virginia markets.  

Latimer came to DRPT from the consulting industry with grant management experience. He has his Masters of Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia and an undergraduate background in economics from the University of Richmond.
