NJ Transit boosts safety initiatives with Railhead video systems
New Jersey Transit (NJ Transit) has received 200 high-definition onboard video systems from Railhead Corporation, providing the agency with the latest video technology and access to operational and system information.
Railhead says its new LDVRHD-12 video system and Fleet-Wide Tracking Router (FWT) will enable NJ Transit management to respond to situations and incidents quickly while maintaining safety and service for its customers.
Railhead supplied NJ Transit with the latest digital video recorder capable of supporting 12 cameras. NJ Transit’s system consists of Railhead’s 360 degree and interior dome cameras installed throughout the passenger areas of the coach cars and trailer cars.
The strategic location of the cameras gives NJ Transit complete coverage and visibility to activities on trains, improving its ability to respond to incidents and passenger safety.
The LDVRHD-12 video system also includes FWT router capabilities that provides NJ Transit with the ability to live-stream video, initiate remote downloads of video, take a snapshot image or view the health of the system.
“Railhead’s systems are designed and manufactured specifically for the heavy rail environments,” said Fred Cozzi, vice president of sales and marketing for Railhead. “We are grateful for the opportunity to work with New Jersey Transit on helping them to reduce maintenance and operating costs and improve efficiency. While Railhead’s video system will help NJ Transit mitigate risk and reduce liability in the event of an incident, the real benefit is the improved safety and security for its passengers. We’ve had a great relationship with NJ Transit during the implementation of this system and it’s been a pleasure working with them to support their safety initiatives.”
