Cubic, InComm to deliver nationwide network of stored value reloads for transit agencies
Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) is partnering with InComm to provide a nationwide network of stored value reloads for transit agencies.
Through this partnership, all transit agencies utilizing Cubic’s TouchPass solution will be able to leverage InComm’s retail network to establish a broad, fare product sales program in their service area that includes national and regional chain stores as well as local merchants without having to create, manage or service the program.
The integration of TouchPass with InComm’s retail network gives travelers the ability to use cash and other forms of payment to purchase stored value to pay for public transit at retail locations throughout the United States. It will also give unbanked or underbanked transit riders the opportunity to take advantage of the full benefits of the TouchPass system, including fare capping, without the need for a credit or debit card.
“We are very pleased to collaborate with InComm to improve the operations of transit agencies of all sizes and in turn, create more convenient travel experiences for transit riders,” said Doug Thomas, product unit vice president, CTS. “The integration of InComm’s retail network further enhances our robust solution and gives agencies using TouchPass another convenient feature without requiring additional agency resources.”
Cubic’s TouchPass is a full-featured electronic fare collection solution provided as a service for transit agencies of every size. Built for online, real-time fare payment processing, TouchPass offers online and mobile transit account management and fare product purchasing, as well as fare payments functions using a variety of fare media.
“The InComm retail network was designed to provide our clients and their customers with instant access to over 55,000 retail locations across the U.S.,” said Michael Herold, vice president of business development, InComm. “For public transportation agencies, it is an ideal way to supplement their Title VI inclusivity programs, ensuring broad, local and convenient access for passengers to add value to their TouchPass accounts.”
The integration of InComm’s retail network gives transit agencies the ability to offer more convenience for their cash-preferred travelers. By signing up to use the service, transit agencies can give passengers convenient access to locations near their homes and workplaces where they can add stored value to their transit accounts for use on public transportation.
