ETA Transit Systems has been awarded a contract by the University of Central Florida to furnish, deliver, install, test and commission a Traveler Information System at the university's Orlando campuses. American Coach Lines operates UCF's bus fleet, consisting of 40 shuttle buses operating on 15 routes. The UCF Traveler Information System will provide real-time estimated times of arrival and traveler information by way of Web pages and smart phone applications.
Founded in 2003, ETA Transit Systems is a software development firm specializing in automatic vehicle location, traveler information and communications systems throughout North America.
UCF director of parking and transportation services Krishna Singh said, "This system will provide our students with route information at their fingertips. This will reduce the volume of inbound calls to our office and ultimately improves our service."
ETA president John Maglio said, "Predictable transportation with real-time information is quality transportation. Bringing this capability to the UCF bus fleet will make the shuttle service more efficient and enjoyable for students and staff alike."
