Chevin Fleet Solutions is now providing its FleetWave solution to BC Hydro, one of Canada’s largest electric utilities. The decision by BC Hydro to adopt the web-based, enterprise-level fleet management solution reflects the increasing popularity of FleetWave among utility fleets.

Delivering electricity to 95 percent of British Columbia’s population, BC Hydro’s ‘Fleet Services’ business unit manages approximately 3,100 assets, providing maintenance and support services at five facilities throughout the province.

Adopting FleetWave to meet a number of its key fleet management objectives, including flexible reporting capabilities; quick and effective analytical means; and access to key performance indicators over the complete lifecycle of vehicles, BC Hydro can now streamline work management in garages and for mobile mechanics. Additionally, the utility is also using FleetWave to enable integrations with third-party suppliers and other internal management solutions.

Ron Katz, senior vice president for North American Sales, explained that utility fleets can realize significant cost and productivity advantages with FleetWave.

“We are very pleased to welcome BC Hydro as our newest client. A continually expanding number of utility fleets are turning to Chevin to manage assets, workshops, parts, fuel purchases, and drivers. The steady increase in FleetWave’s popularity within this market segment is because the software’s modules are matched very well to their requirements.”

Just some of Chevin’s utility fleet clients include Hydro Ottawa in Canada; the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority; Washington Gas; Central Hudson Gas & Electric; and Eversource, New England's largest energy provider.

Universally, these utility operations selected FleetWave for its flexibility, ease of use and comprehensive reporting capabilities, as well as the ability to integrate with outside service providers and internal enterprise information management systems.

Katz said that Chevin’s value is increasingly being validated by its growing success in many fleet markets in North America. In 2016, the company realized growth of more than 35 percent and is on track to surpass that accomplishment in 2017.

“Among new and legacy clients, FleetWave is proving to be a highly effective centralized system for managing entire fleet operations. As a management solution and a central repository of fleet information it provides the ability to gain complete oversight of a fleet’s operations and its performance.”
