RFP: Automatic Passenger Counter and Transportation Technology
The City of Fresno Department of Transportation is seeking information on the various manufacturers and types of Automatic Passenger Counter (APC) systems and transit technology for transit vehicles.
The City of Fresno’s Department of Transportation/Fresno Area Express (FAX) operates scheduled fixed-route services throughout the Fresno-Clovis Metropolitan Area (FCMA). FAX provides over 9.6 million fixed-route passenger trips a year and has a fleet of over 120 buses.
Fresno Area Express is a recipient of federal funding and submits automatic passenger counter numbers to the National Transit Database. APCs provide crucial data in the process of calculating ridership on public transportation, allowing our transit agency to accurately plan routes, optimize schedules, allocate resources efficiently, report accurate passenger counts to stakeholders, and ultimately improve service quality based on estimated passenger flow information.
FAX currently has DILAX APCs installed, Vontas CAD/AVL (Computer Automated Dispatch / Automatic Vehicle Locator) OnRoute V21, IVLU (Integrated Vehicle Logic Unit) V8 Trapeze FX, Citisense and Mercury software. FAX is seeking information pertaining to current, accurate, and efficient transportation technology.
