New Saratoga Service Kicks Off With “Family Fun Day”
The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and 101.3 The Jockey will hold a free Family Fun Day in Congress Park on Saturday May 21, 2016 to highlight the impending rollout of the Saratoga County route restructuring. The new service package will hit the street on Sunday May 29, 2016 and features more service hours, while providing new connections across the area’s fastest growing county.
“It’s an exciting time to be at CDTA,” said CDTA Board Chairman David M. Stackrow. “Our improved route network in Saratoga puts buses where people want and need them most, while balancing the needs of seniors, college students and visitors. We are confident it will provide better connections to places that people want to travel to in Saratoga. Thanks to Board Member Georgeanna Lussier, our Saratoga County Representative, for all of her hard work and involvement throughout this process.”
CDTA and 101.3 The Jockey have teamed up to host Family Fun Day in historic Congress Park from 11am to 2pm. CDTA’s Travel trainers will have information about the enhanced Saratoga service while the community will enjoy carnival games, cotton candy, a photo booth, DJ music and the Incredible Larry.
CDTA’s Saratoga County restructuring plan better aligns service to demand because where people live and work continues to shift. The new service plan based on ridership data and community input will provide improved frequency along Route 50, direct connections from downtown to employment and retail centers while insuring seniors have access to services. A similar Saratoga County restructuring took place in 2007 and subsequent restructurings in Albany, Rensselaer and Schenectady Counties supported CDTA’s record ridership.
