Caltrans continues to reduce its carbon footprint through the launch of its employee BikeShare Program, which makes on-site bicycles available for staff as a transit option. The bikes were procured from Practical Cycle in West Sacramento, funded through a grant from Kaiser Permanente and will be used for traveling to meetings where a vehicle might otherwise be used.
Caltrans highlighted in its latest News Flash how employees plan to use the bicycles and the excitement surrounding the added choice of going green. As part of moving toward a fully-integrated transportation system, Caltrans is committed to increasing the number of bicyclists and intends to use the BikeShare Program as a template for other BikeShare Programs throughout California.
